   The Sox got back in the win column Tuesday, powered by Jim Thome's 2 home runs.

The 2 home runs pulled Thome within 1 of Mike Schmidt on the all time home run list with 547.  Thome also did it in a ballpark he is very comfortable in, since he played in Cleveland for many years and hit the bulk of his dingers there.

Well, the last 2 games in Texas were pretty ugly to the Sox. First there was the thumping that Jose Contreras took on Saturday night, and then the listless performance on Sunday night in front of a national audience.

every team needs.

So why do we suck?

It was only three years ago we won the World Series (as no Sox fan will ever let you forget), and it was a mere TWO years ago that our three, four, and five hitters were the possibly the most feared in baseball.  Remember when you could set your watch by how regularly balls flew out of the park at US Cellular Field, courtesy of Thome, Konerko, Dye, and Crede?

Not a whole lot of description necessary for the Sox first week of 08. I'd say a sweep of the Tigers and a 5-2 record does a pretty nice job of speaking for itself. A record, I might add, that iIm pretty sure is identical to the 05 start. As is the lack of respect, which is fine; under the radar is the way to be.
